The Main Page of this site will have a monthly theme, I'm going to try and keep it Military or Patriotic but you know, some holidays have their role too. What you will find here are articles of interest.  Suggestions are welcome.

Post 163 Members, if you have any Legion or Military Service related articles, I will be glad to post it. Just shoot me an e-mail webmaster@legionpost163.com

The Legion

Preamble to the Constitution of The American Legion

FOR GOD AND COUNTRY WE ASSOCIATE OURSELVES TOGETHER FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES:

To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and goodwill on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.

TO OUR POST MEMBERS

Last week we lost a fellow Legionnaire as well as a member of our Color Guard. His name was Charles Sheahan. Charlie was more than a legionnaire, he was a volunteer, one who would go above the call of duty. When we needed someone to march in a parade, work in the kitchen or be a rifleman he would volunteer - Charlie did these things well into his eighties and without a complaint. We will miss Charlie and I will miss a very dear friend.

So when you are asked to volunteer for an activity, think of Charlie and help your Legion in a time of need. There are so few of us that are left to do the things that those before us did without complaining or thinking what's in it for me. If you have any desire to volunteer for different projects or be part of the Color Guard, contact any of the officers of the Post and they will help you.

For God and Country
Eddie Weber
